… actually – just wrong information when you think about it.
Is it just me ? (And I do know this dates from 2013 – but for some reason – someone was circulating it again on twitter last week – but that aside.)

I am Old Labour.
I view that social cohesion, competition and the common interest are of paramount and intertwined importance.
I am a social capitalist.
I view that our purpose should be a better and fairer society for all. To create political freedom, I reject the notions of economic and social subservience. I hold to a view of common interest above self interest. I do not view the market as a source of ‘good’ or our goal but a tool to be used and exploited to achieve our purpose.
… not my original words – but this of Simon Wardley
… Those that track my words will know why these words resonated. ‘New Labor’ destroyed the labor party. They kinda set themselves up as a “tory lite” – if that’s not too generous. ‘Bliar’ (sic) in particular was a disgrace – but there you go – maybe it’s just me. But – apparently not …
My party passed into history in May 1994. One day, it might return. Until such time, I have no-one to vote for.
… In case you are not tracking – the date that Simon is referring to is when John Smith (not one of Old Labours most charismatic leaders IMHO .. but definitely a change agent, and one of the good guys) passed away after a massive heart attack. From that moment the Bliar camp took control – essentially destroying the British two party system on his way to destroying Britain. It took a while for the British to recognize who he was – and what ‘New Labour’ stood for .. but suffice to say that being a Bush puppet – while it works well for him in America – over in the UK – not so much.
May 5th 2005 (10 years as I write) was the third and final election of Bliar to PM – and is the LAST time Labour won a majority in the British Parliament. That is not to say I whole heartedly support Mr. Cameron and the Conservatives either – they too run with their challenges – but they do not run on lies, deceit and chicanery that IS New Labour. Seemingly not even ‘Marxist Ed’ could change that course – and once again Labour is on the down (Proportional Representation aside).
I of course know nothing – but in my opinion this will continue until they take a long hard look at themselves and once again stand up for themselves and represent the people of the country – not to simply hijack popular viewpoints to win elections – and then implement American policy.

The quote below just strikes me as wrong – so freeing myself of that chain !
“About 30 percent of adults in the United States get their news on Facebook, according to a study from the Pew Research Center. The fortunes of a news site, in short, can rise or fall depending on how it performs in Facebook’s News Feed.”

Really liked where this was going – until the end – lost the plot … Rings ? Really ? I don’t think so.

Should you care ?
Maybe it is me – but this is yahoo owning tumblr – breaking off from feed burner owned by google around RSS feed tracking – which is one of the few open syndication offers left – which google tried to quietly destroy – and i know feed burner will go the same way – so bit by bit rss is being destroyed by the large walled gardens who are in it fro them – not for us – I could go on – but this is the thin edge of the wedge – IMHO.
Recording this now – since I expect to see a lot more on this very soon.

Go on. Admit it. We all want it to go away, but no matter how much we keep going on about how bad it is - we don't disconnect. This is not to defend EMail. It does have serious problems. But if your car or phone has a problem - you fix it. You don't just throw it away and / or stop using it. And you know that this isn't the first time I have written about this.
I guess it started when I kept hearing the line that EMail is dead and broken – Social Media is the way. How people would say that the “First thing I do each day is ‘check my linkedIN / Facebook / Twitter” Facebook Messages is EMail by another name. And really – SMS / MMS – more messages that use a different protocol to reach you.

Basically they left it to their fans to decide what to pay - pay a premium or 'steal' it - my paraphrasing of what good people will think - not their words.
Turns out they did very well with that approach – but of course the nay sayers suggested that of course Radiohead can afford to do that – they are Radiohead. At the time, I was on a bit more of a rant about the stupid music industry than I am these days. Not because the music industry has become more wise – or even that the problems have gone away – just time I guess. I am not part of the industry – simply a passionate watcher from the peanut gallery that involve himself with the professionals in the creative industry and help wherever I can.

In the rest of the world it is 2.1.13 - which doesn't have the same level of resonance. Then again, you might choose to write it out as 13 - 2/1 and / or countless other inversions.
Being English – I still naturally drift towards 2/1/13 – the date, followed by the broader category of month, followed by the broader category again of year. I STILL don’t get after all these years why the American standard of month – date – year even started – much less holds sway. (I do really – but not going there – maybe in a later post).
Back in the day when I cared about file structures, I used dates in file names so I could find docs quickly. For this I reversed the order from ‘date – month – year’, to ‘year – month – date’ – then everything sorted in chronological order – regardless of the ‘last
You would be amazed how quickly things could be found when you called a document ‘filename-year-month-date’
Well it just makes you realize that changing even a date format – which costs nothing – could make the world – at a stroke – understand when they look back to today that it is the 2nd January – not the 1st February, communications would be simplified, things more easily found, less confusion.
Electricity is hardly standard. How much crap do we carry around with us to overcome the inadequacies of decisions made forever ago.
And then. Holding that thought. Ask yourself …..
What say you to the chance of getting google and apple and amazon and samsung and ….. to play nice.
I say no – It isn’t in there interests. And we know that we aren’t important.
When the people rule this decision – THEN we will know that the people – the crowd – have decided.
