fontsIf you are reading this post on my site – would welcome your thoughts on some font changes made to the body copy this morning. I have;

– replaced the black font with grey
– moved from arial to a serif
– increased font size
– increased the line space

Good improvements – or shouldn’t I have bothered ? All comments and input welcome below.

  1. I also really appreciate that you spell ‘grey’ with an e, since that’s how I spell it. I feel it suits the feeling of the word much better than ‘gray’, and it’s the more traditional spelling. I wonder if others even notice 😀

  2. Hi John,

    It looks really good. I really appreciate grey font. I feel like reading tons of stark black font all day strains my eyes, but I have a particular problem that others might not have. I, however, really appreciate it if only for my sake! I think the mix of fonts looks good. It sets the names off from the comments and serif looks more professional. Ironically, while I type my comment I believe it’s in arial and then it posts in serif. Funny! All good though. I’m really into fonts and so to me these issues are very important. I love it that you care enough to make changes like this!

    • actually Jeff – that is good – I guess what I am trying to get is regardless of what the site used to be like – is there anything you would now change – many thanks for your input.

    • yup alex – wondering about the serif myself – just not a fan of arial – and what you can guarantee to deliver through a web site is so restrictive – my thanks for your input

  3. I didn’t have the former situation imprinted yet, John. So I’m not exactly sure what to compare. But I do have an opinion: as long as you use this grey font it’s all good.

    It’s friendly, calm and modern. I guess the font size is perfect now, and the line space is fine. And a modern serif, sure. Actually suits the friendliness of the grey imo. But again, as long as you use the grey, I guess I’d like any small changes, and both serif and arial on your site.
